The left image illustrates a horizontal line scan in a video feed from the Winter Olympics. By converting the image via Fourier transform into a frequency domain, the scan line pattern appears as several singularity areas and bands that can be filtered out of the transformed image. The remaining information is reverted back to the spatial domain via an inverse Fourier transform as illustrated in the right image, in which the scan line pattern is greatly reduced.
